Gautam Adani biography
Born on 24th June 1962 (Age -57 as in 2020), Mr. Adani is an Indian billionaire industrialist whose vision for a better world led to the creation of the Adani Group. Adani Group is a multinational conglomerate based on Ahmedabad, who is unquestionably shaping the world for good.
The founder of the Adani Group, Mr. Gautam Adani, however, has a simple tale to tell. The primitive motive behind the foundation of the group back in 1988 was to diversify the business into resources that would necessitate an immediate upgrade. The group looks after port development operations across India. Along with that, defense, energy, agriculture, logistics, and aerospace are some other industries the group looks to work on and improve.
Gautam Adani Early Life
Gautam Adani was born into a Jain family to Shanti Adani and Shantilal in Ahmedabad, Gujrat on 24th June 1962. Accompanied by seven siblings, his parents did go through a quick migration from the small little town of Tharad which is situated in the Northern Part of Gujarat. Born to a textile merchant, the only thing that motivated Gautam’s success was growing businesses. He did his education in Ahmedabad from Sheth Chimanlal Nagindas Vidyalaya School.
Further down the line, he went to pursue a bachelor’s degree in commerce from the Gujrat University but you know what visionaries are made of right? College never satisfied Adani’s ambition and affection towards growing immeasurably big. He dropped out after the second year of college. His extreme passion for starting his own business led to what he is today. Thanks to his sheer dedication, that makes India today stand head to head with other leading countries having the same port facilities and energy infrastructure. Had it been his focus on his father’s textile business, India could have failed in seeing such a massive development.
Career
The tale had its rainbow of a twist when Gautam back in 1978 decided to move to Mumbai to work for Mahendra Brothers as a diamond sorter. He worked for them for a good couple of years or maybe three before he started with his own diamond brokerage firm for himself at Zaveri Bazaar, Mumbai. A small turnaround of events for a grand opening of infinite possibilities.
Soon after, in 1981, on the invitation by his elder brother Mr. Mansukhbhai Adani who supposed to have bought a plastics manufacturing unit in Ahmedabad, asked the younger Adani to manage the operations of the business. The same venture supposedly became the forefront of success for Gautam. He aced Adani’s global gateway through worldwide trading of PVC products manufactured.
1985 was another turning point behind the start of the Adani Group’s multinational dominance. They started importing polymers for all the small and medium scale industries. Years later, in 1988 Adani started with their first exporting of their products and named the brand Adani Exports Limited which is now known as Adani Enterprises.
The economic liberalization policies back in 1991 turned in favor of the company. The company started expanding its business and started the trading of agro products, textiles, and various other metals. Government of Gujarat back in 1993, published a tender of outsourcing the Mundra Port and in 1995, Gautam got the enormous privilege of getting the contract under his name.
1995 marked the first jetty, which was originally operated by Mundra Port and declared as an economic zone. Standing today the company Adani Ports & SEZ Limited is the most comprehensive private port operator to dominate several of them. Mundra itself is one of its class. It alone can handle close to 210 million tons of cargo every year. Let’s take a sigh of relief to that.
The next year marked another milestone for Gautam and his group. They went to set up the power firm for India. They are known as Adani Power Limited. For now, they hold several thermal power plants with a total power output capacity of 4620 Megawatts. Yet another feather on their caps being the most extensive and the largest private power producer of the country. Early 2006, the visionary man went and stepped in the power generation business, where the company got Carmichael Coal in Abbot Point Port and Queensland in Australia under their name from the year 2009–2012. The total net worth of business tycoon Gautam Adani is more than $15.7 billion (October 2019)
Family Life and Philanthropy
Happily married to Priti Adani, Gautam seems to be a happy man. He is an avid reader, and Tony Robbins happens to be his favorite author. Collectively they run a charity firm known as the Adani Foundation fronted by Priti Adani. Formed back in 1996 the only mission and vision of the foundation is to help those who need it the most.
Lately, it has come to my notice that Mr. Gautam Adani contributed his part with a sum of Rs 100 crores to the PM Cares Fund to combat the Coronavirus outbreak in India. Further Rs 5 Crores to the Gujrat CM Relief fund and a Crore for Maharashtra as well.
I don’t know what good deed I do to get the opportunity to write a biography on such a man with astonishing visions. However, it’s been a pleasure undoubtedly.
